Hi anglers,
A serious note to say that lately, I have been coming across barbed hooks in the fish and on the banks. As you all know, the rule is "NO BARBED HOOKS", unless you are fishing with lures for the black bass.
From now on, unfortunately (because of a few people), I will be doing random checks. Please, abide by the rules. I have to and will look after my fish and anybody caught using barbed hooks will be expelled.
I have barbless hooks here to sell for 3€ for a pack of 10. I also cannot accept the "I squeeze the barb down with pliers" method. I have tried it myself and do not accept the result.
Please, take this note as nothing more than maintaining the quality of my fish and fishery to the benefit of us all.
Sincerely,
Mike Taylor

Hi Mike. I am very impressed by your website although I have not yet visited the fishery. When I do I will respect your rules regarding barbless hooks. However, when I lived in England (some 20 years ago now!) I conducted seriously in depth experiments on the barbed vs. barbless and am convinced that the latter do more harm to the fish. It is apparent in my view, that the latter cause more damage due to movement of the hook in the flesh. Consistently bigger marks/holes were found when I used them whilst barbed were easily removed leaving insignificant damage, using forceps to remove the hook. I wish you every success with the fishery which looks beautiful. Hope to visit soon
