LAGO EL DORADO / Rule changes
Full rule changes will soon be published on our website. (All general rules still apply) The ones below are enforced from April 1st:
Hooks: Max. size 8, barbless. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Line: Min. 6lbs, max. 15lbs. NO EXCEPTIONS. No steel traces allowed.
Landing nets: You will either have to rent a landing net from me for 3€ a day or leave a net with me which I will label and clean ready for your next visit.
The fish 5 times, 6th time free is to be phased out. I will honour all outstanding sheets. This money will go towards the cleaning and storing of your nets.
Dipping your nets is not acceptable.
Baits: Allowed: bread, corn, maggots, worms, cat biscuit (mine only), ground bait (mine only), pellets (mine only), false corn, hemp, chick peas, frankfurters, boilies.
There will be a quantity per day limit on all above.
Not allowed: home made groundbaits, dead or live fish, lures, nuts, bird seed, dog biscuit, tinned animal food, meat, beans, peas.
NO HEAVY BAITING.
Please, leave any leftover baits in at the office or throw them away when you leave.
NEVER THROW BAIT INTO THE LAKE WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Anglers must let officials inspect their tackle at any time.
Rental is only available to anglers who can provide a current UK, Spanish, European course fishing licence.
Handling of fish: Is not permitted. Obviously there are some situations where you have no choice, please, wet your hands and call an official.
Photos must be taken with the fish in the net or on a wet landing matt on the ground.
NO HOLDING UP OF FISH.
Smoking: Respect smoking signs in the building. ALWAYS USE THE ASHTRAYS PROVIDED AROUND THE LAKE. The risk of fire is huge.
Access round the lake: NOBODY who is not angling can go around the lake without permission.
The parasites: For the moment, parasites will have to be removed from the fish using tweezers when they are caught.
As each of you come to fish again, I will obviously go through everything with you. We have been closed for 10 weeks and this has given me a chance to take some steps to control the water better and loose less fish. My two people per day using my licence offer still stands. From now on, you have to book to use this option, and will have to have been a regular here. For the moment there will be no exceptions as I do need to control the standard of fishing here.
I hope to see you soon.
Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I have given it a couple of days to sink in before commenting on the new rules.
I understand what you are trying to do but would like to hear your reasoning behind the bait bans. Why accept frankfurters and not luncheon meat? I cant see why this should be.
I do not agree with your stopping the free visit after a number of paid trips. This is just penalising your regular anglers. If you insist on doing this why not provide the regulars with free net rental? I understand your reasons for being careful with nets but feel that your way of dealing with this is very clumsy. I rather suspect that the recent problems you have suffered are due to the introduction of fish from the river. The lower section of the river where these fish were taken from has a number of raw sewage outlets which almost certainly affect the fish.
